Theme customizations/modifications are best done by using Child Themes. That way, when the parent theme is updated, your modifications are preserved.

You can read more information about Child Themes in the WordPress Codex.

Included with the Morphis Package is a sample morphis-child.zip file located inside the demo_content folder.

There are two ways you can setup the child theme:

1.) Using The Install Theme

a)     Navigate to Appearance > Themes from your WordPress Dashboard and then click Install Themes tab.

b)     Now, click the Upload link and then browse and upload the morphis-child.zip file located in the demo_content folder of the Morphis ZIP Package.

c)     Once uploaded and installed, activate the “Morphis Child” theme.

d)     You can now modify the theme without changing the files from the parent theme.

2.) or by Uploading through FTP

a)     Copy the morphis-child folder located inside the demo_content folder of the Morphis Package.

b)     Place the copied morphis-child folder alongside your parent morphis theme. Usually located in “/wp-content/themes/” folder.

c)     Now, go to the WordPress Dashboard and navigate to Appearance > Themes and Activate “Morphis Child” theme.

d)     You can now modify the theme without changing the files from the parent theme.
